Purpose / My Why!

Dear Friends,

More than six years have passed since we received word that my sister Sue died in a mysterious incident while out riding horse with her husband. Five years ago, her long-time friends Teresa and Leslie founded the SueB Memorial Stroll. Here I am with them at the first event.

Three years ago the Women’s and Children’s Alliance embraced the SueB Stroll as signature event to mark the beginning of Domestic Violence Month. Under the leadership of WCA board member Debbie Wachtell, it became a 5K walk/run with about 300 participants. This year the SueB Memorial 5k Walk/Run is growing again. In addition to an afternoon of family fun events, a 1/2 mile Kid's Run is scheduled. We anticipate that 500 people will be out on the Boise greenbelt moving in memory of Sue.

While I’m not expecting you to go to Boise to participate in the SueB 5K on Sunday, October 5, I want you to know about it and ask for your support to help match the $1000 that Frank and I gave to this year’s event. The proceeds from the event will be added to the SueB Endowment which we started at the Women’s and Children’s Alliance of Boise. Funds generated by the Endowment work to help women and children who are victims of domestic violence.

Although Sue is gone, her memory lives on and the SueB Memorial 5k Walk/Run will help keep her memory alive and the dollars raised will help victims of domestic violence.

Thanks and take care,

Marj
